Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed The members of the band played session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 as a result of the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the band held auditions for the new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The group has also released numerous compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video for the band is "Africa" which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library and shows the band performing in front of a stack of books about Africa.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity following their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.

Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on an album titled Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks and several completed recordings of older songs. The album was a worldwide success and the band went on tour to promote it.

Toto, known for the hit song "Africa", recently reunited to promote their new album, All In. The album debuted on November 6, 2018 and included three songs from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, as well as completed recordings of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album included the cover version of Weezer's track "Hash Pipe," which they added after hearing it on the radio.
